Lightbearers to the World

I am sitting in the middle of my crafts room, eager to get started with my Easter project. So many ideas were jostling in my head as to the theme. So many, I was feeling conflicted. I was beginning to feel anxious and I started skimming through my feed almost mindlessly. And then I was stopped in my tracks by a short reel showing Pope Francis’ message for Lent. Two lines, rather two questions he posed had me thinking:

“How do I behave with people?”

“How is my heart in front of people?”

And right there, I knew I wanted to focus on light, on positive thoughts, on heartfelt messages but done in an easy going, casual, cool manner, even cheesy. And so here we are.

My project theme is Lightbearers to the World. In the midst of the uncertainty, the not-so-good news and events that happened in the last three months, I wanted to share some light. Lifting from a favorite Jungian author, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, “ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these — to be fierce and to show mercy toward others; both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity. This is one of the strongest things you can do.”

May these whimsical lightbearers make you smile with their irrepressible, sometimes cheesy messages. From my heart to whomever you want to share the light with. Choose which customized message resonates with you or for another person in mind.
